The Other Art Fair - 10th - 13th Sep

This week I will be part of the fan fair that is Art Week in Sydney. As in previous years The Sydney Art Fair is showcasing a selection of contemporary art from Australian and international artists. Known as Sydney Contemporary it will be shown at Carriageworks and consists of hundreds of commercial galleries exhibiting select artists from their stable of existing artists that they represent. 

The Other Art Fair is exactly that, an alternative art fair that showcases emerging and unrepresented artists from Australia.  Artists have been selected by a panel of established artists and arts professionals to form the fair however they maintain creative and financial control over the presentation of their work. 

I will be exhibiting at a stand of my own this year at The Other Art Fair with a selection of paintings  and soft sculpture. The emphasis for me is not creative development and / or  potential sale of work that comes from this exhibition, but rather the marketing and publicity opportunities in a major city that is not where I live. I will be travelling from Newcastle for the fair and staying in Sydney for the duration, in the hope of generating new audiences for my work and meeting collectors, curators and  gallerists and like minded colleagues in the arts.
